Katyani Puja in Magura ends
Although Durga Puja is the greatest religious festival of Bangla-speaking Hindus, Katyani Puja is their main festival in Magura district for long.
As in previous years, the Puja drew thousands of Hindu devotees from different parts of Magura, its adjoining districts and even from India. In the sub-continent, the Puja is observed only in Magura for the last 53 years, it is only during the last 18 years that it has become a festival celebrated with such religious fervour in only Magura in this sub-continent.
Satish Chandra, rich man in Parnanduali village in Magura Sadar upazila first introduced the Katyani Puja.
Idols of Katyani Puja are similar to those of Durga Puja.
