Patuakhali Bridge opens tomorrow

Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will inaugurate the bridge that will provide direct road link between Patuakhali and Barisal.

The 485.20-meter long and 10-meter wide bridge has been constructed at a cost of Tk 27.50 crore, funded by the government.

The than Prime Minister Shaikh Hasina laid foundation stone of the bridge on July 8, 2000.

The estimated cost of the bridge was fixed at Tk 25.54 crore but it escalated to Tk 27.50 crore, according to sources in the Road and Highways Department (RHD).

The improved communication network will boost economic development of the region.
