5 hurt in JCD factional clashes in Nilphamari

A fierce clash broke out between two JCD groups for alleged misappropriation of College Students' Union fund on Thursday. Two JCD activists were injured in the clash.

JCD leader Akhteruzzaman Dulal, also the union vice president (VP), and others reportedly misappropriated the fund.

Later, the district BNP leaders called for a compromise meeting at its office but to no effect.

The clash continued for the second day yesterday.

Three injured JCD activists including the Students' Union Common Room Secretary Rana Ahmed were admitted to Nilphamari Sadar Hospital with critical injuries.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot yesterday and controlled the situation.

The agitating students gathered in front of the women's hostel to look for the VP.

District JCD president Kazi Akteruzzman Jewel blamed the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists for the incident.
