MTB releases annual sustainability report for 10th year

Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) released its "10th Annual Sustainability Report for 2023", styled "A Decade of Sustainable Commitment", in line with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, at its head office in the capital's Banglamotor recently.

The report highlights the bank's efforts to address Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) priorities while delivering long-term value to stakeholders.

It underscores the bank's initiatives in green financing, environmental stewardship, governance, and social responsibility, setting benchmarks for the financial industry, said a press release.

Chowdhury Liakat Ali, director of the Sustainable Finance Department of the Bangladesh Bank, Ahmed Zubaer Mahbub and Md Kamrul Hasan, joint directors, attended the launching ceremony.

Ali praised MTB's proactive approach to embedding sustainability in its operations.

He also emphasised the importance of capacity-building initiatives, which will enhance the ability of financial institutions to manage climate risks and opportunities effectively.

Syed Mahbubur Rahman, managing director and CEO of MTB, said: "The launch of our 10th Sustainability Report reaffirms MTB's leadership in sustainable banking. We remain committed to driving innovation, green finance, and climate resilience through collaboration and transparency."

Since 2014, MTB has consistently adhered to GRI standards, establishing itself as a pioneer in transparent and comprehensive ESG reporting in the banking sector.

Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, additional managing director and group chief risk officer of the bank, along with members of the bank's senior management committee also attended the event.
