Prime Bank holds ‘Annual Risk Conference’

Prime Bank PLC recently organised its "Annual Risk Conference 2024" in Marina Yasmin Chowdhury Conference Hall at its office in the capital's Niketan in a bid to foster a better risk management culture.

The conference was attended by approximately 200 participants, including branch operation managers, members of the executive risk management committee and the risk management forum of the bank.

Surabhi Ghosh, additional director of the Department of Off-Site Supervision (DOS) at the Bangladesh Bank (BB), attended the conference as the chief guest, the bank said in a press release.

ANM Moinul Kabir, director of DOS at the central bank, was present as the special guest.

Md Ziaur Rahman, deputy managing director and chief risk officer of Prime Bank, presided over the event, where Mohammad Arif Hasan and Nazmin Nahar, joint directors of DOS at the BB, attended the programme as resource persons.

Seasoned central bankers shared their insights on risk management policies and guidelines established by the central bank, addressing current challenges within the banking sector.

They also commended Prime Bank's strong position in managing risks and exercising a robust risk culture.

Mohammad Jashim Uddin, head of risk management at Prime Bank, and Kazi Naim Morshed, deputy head, briefed the audience about the risk management practice and the implications of risks, especially operational risks on the bank's performance and reputation.

They emphasised the importance of team collaboration to manage risks proactively and mitigate threats before they arise.

They called for enhancing the present risk management practice to ensure its preparedness to face emerging risks.

Prime Bank also recognised the top proactive risk identifiers.
