ERF Institute, BFTI sign deal on skill boosting

The Economic Reporters’ Forum Institute, known as ERF Institute, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) to strengthen cooperation in trade, economics, research, training and knowledge sharing.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will jointly organise seminars, workshops, roundtables, conferences and other knowledge-sharing programmes on trade, economic and business issues.  They will also facilitate dialogue among policymakers, trade experts, business leaders, researchers and media professionals.

Mostafa Abid Khan, chief executive officer of BFTI, and Doulot Akter Mala, president of ERF, signed the MoU at TCB Bhaban in Dhaka yesterday.

Speaking at the event, Mostafa said the MoU would provide a framework for joint research and programmes on trade and economic issues of mutual interest.

The two organisations will draw on their respective expertise, networks and institutional strengths to promote informed, evidence-based and constructive discourse on Bangladesh’s trade and economic development, he added.

Doulot Akter said the collaboration would help enhance the professional skills and capacity of economic reporters.

“BFTI and ERF will work together to strengthen the professional skills and development of economic reporters,” she added.
