67 firms given go-ahead to export 8,800 tonnes of aromatic rice
The commerce ministry has given the go-ahead to 67 companies to export 8,800 tonnes of aromatic rice, allowing each to ship up to 500 tonnes under a government quota.
The approval was issued through a notification on July 14 following recommendations from the Ministry of Food and applications submitted by exporters.
Among them, City Auto Rice and Dal Mills Ltd will export the largest allocation of 500 tonnes, followed by Alif Agro Industries Ltd with 400 tonnes and M/S Agra D Corporation with 300 tonnes.
Rupali Foods Ltd, Abdul Hakeem Industry Ltd, Deshbandhu Food and Beverage Ltd, M/S Air Agro Food Products, M/S Es Es Agro Food Products, Matis Food Products, Kamco M&D Ltd, Khanjahan Agro Products, Korbel Flower Tech International Ltd, Hish Agro Industries, Nizamuddin Trading Bangladesh Ltd and Pradhan Agro Food Products will each export 200 tonnes.
The remaining 52 companies have been allowed to export 100 tonnes each.
According to the notification, the export permission will remain valid until December 31 this year.
Exporters have been asked to comply with the government's Import Policy Order 2024-27 and complete all customs formalities before shipment.
The commerce ministry also said any changes to the approved export quantities would require fresh approval.
The notification fixed the minimum free-on-board export price at $1.80 per kilogramme, meaning exporters cannot ship aromatic rice below that price.
Companies have also been barred from transferring or subcontracting their export allocations to other parties.
The government reserved the right to suspend or cancel the export approvals at any time if deemed necessary, while exporters have been instructed to submit the required documents as part of the process.
