Govt officials’ honorarium for online seminars, workshops halved

The government has halved the honorarium of public officials for their participation in online seminars and workshops as part of efforts to cut cost during the ongoing pandemic.

The finance division issued a notification in this regard today.

The supporting staff will not get any benefit whereas the honorarium of discussants and moderator of webinars will remain the same. The finance ministry officials believe these steps will help in the government to save around Tk 8,000 crore in the current financial year.

Few days ago, the finance division reduced honorarium for internal training.

The government had reduced car purchases and travel expenses since last July.
