NBFIs asked to stop taking services from unlicensed couriers

Star Business Report

Bangladesh Bank today asked non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) to stop taking services from unlicensed courier companies.
As per the Post Office Act 1898, courier service companies have to take licence from the Bangladesh Post office (BPO) to carry out their business, according to a central bank notice.
Transporting any product or letter is illegal through the courier service, which do not secure licence from the BPO.
Against the backdrop, NBFIs, should be barred themselves from using the unapproved courier service companies for transportation of any materials, the BB notice said.
