No unauthorised company allowed in jute trade: jute ministry
The Ministry of Textiles & Jute has issued a circular in a bid to ensure the supply of necessary raw jute in the market and its production during the current season.
According to the circular, the company or individual business people, who have a license, will not be allowed to hoard more than 1,000 maunds of jute for over a month.
Any company or individual with no license will not be allowed to deal in jute.
Mobile courts will be conducted at the district and upazila levels to assist local administration and monitor the activities so that no one can blend sand or water with jute.
SM Arshad Imam, director of Jute Directorate, said they have issued the circular as a precautionary measure so that last year's unexpected incident can't repeat.
"It's our routine work," he said.
"Keeping last year's unwanted situation in mind, we have taken a precautionary measure so that the market of Jute is not unsteady this time around," he said.
"Already we have instructed Jute and related people from mills' owners to petty businesspeople so that anyone cannot make any illegal hoard of golden fibre."
"After purchasing the specific amount of jute, it can go to the specific place it should go," Imam said.
