SME Foundation gets Tk 200 crore to finance small and medium entrepreneurs

The finance ministry has recently handed over Tk 200 crore to the SME Foundation for disbursement among small and medium enterprises.

The foundation received a letter issued on August 22 by the ministry.

Considering the coronavirus-induced epidemic in the country, the government announced financial incentives for the small and medium sector's entrepreneurs.

In 2020-21 fiscal year, some Tk 1,500 crore was allocated for the development of the living standards of the marginalised population of the sector.

The fund was handed over to eight institutions, out of which Tk 300 crore was given to the SME Foundation.

Tk 100 crore was handed over to the foundation in the last fiscal year.
