Trade through Benapole suspended as BSF harassed Indian truck drivers
Import and export trade through Benapole port has been suspended since the morning due to protests of Indian traders for alleged harassment of truckers by the Border Security Force (BSF).
As a result, thousands of trucks are stuck on both sides of Benapole-Petrapole port, reports our local correspondent quoting traders and port sources.
Indian traders alleged that their truck drivers were constantly being harassed in many ways by BSF men of Jayatpur camp of India for a long time, said Benapole Port Director Abdul Jalil.
The traders also threatened that they will keep the import-export trade shut if such harassment is continued.
However, other activities at Benapole port were normal, said Benapole Custom House Commissioner Md Azizur Rahman.
