Eastern Bank wins ‘ICSB National Award’ for corporate governance excellence

Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) has been honoured with the silver award in the General Banking category at the 12th ICSB National Award for its excellence in corporate governance.

Lutfey Siddiqi, special envoy on international affairs to the chief adviser, handed over the award to Ali Reza Iftekhar, managing director of Eastern Bank PLC, at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka recently, according to a press release.

Expressing his appreciation, Iftekhar said, "This consistent recognition over more than a decade is deeply meaningful to us not as a tally of awards, but as a reaffirmation of our values, discipline, and long-term commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership."

Since the inception of the ICSB National Awards in 2013, EBL has earned a total of six gold, four silver, and two bronze awards, underscoring its values-driven leadership and strong, disciplined corporate governance culture.

The ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence is widely regarded as a key benchmark for corporate governance in Bangladesh, promoting exemplary standards of ethical conduct, transparency, and effective strategic oversight across organisations.

The ceremony was attended by policymakers, regulators, and corporate leaders.
