MTB to raise Tk 500cr capital
The Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) has decided to raise Tk 500 crore in capital by issuing shariah-compliant or conventional bonds with a maturity period of seven years.
The bank’s board took the decision on August 25, according to a disclosure posted on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) website yesterday. The proposal is subject to approval from the relevant regulatory authorities.
Shares of the bank declined 0.75 percent to Tk 13.3 as of 1:00pm yesterday on the DSE.
Meanwhile, the bank’s profit for the April-June quarter of 2026 declined 42 percent year-on-year to Tk 18.67 crore, driven by higher interest expense on deposits and borrowings, according to its financial statements.
As per DSE data, sponsors and directors held 33.26 percent stake in the bank as of July 31, 2026, while institutions and the general public hold the remaining shares.
