Atish Dipankar University confers degrees to 2,326 graduates
Atish Dipankar University of Science and Technology (ADUST) has confered degrees to 2,326 graduates at its Convocation 2025 on Saturday (December 6) at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka.
Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Professor Dr S M A Faiz, during his speech as chief guest, said, "You are the new architects of Bangladesh." He added that the July movement created a new Bangladesh through sacrifice.
He said universities must enrich knowledge and innovation, and teachers and students must work together.
Former State Minister for Education Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan addressed the programme as convocation speaker. Professor Dr Mohammed Anwar Hossain, member of the University Grants Commission, spoke as special guest.
M Shamsul Alam Liton, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the university, and Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Jahangir Alam also spoke. Guardians, educationists, writers, journalists, members of the Trustee Board and invited guests attended.
Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milan told the new graduates that earning a degree marks a beginning, not an end. He said the world is changing faster than before and that success depends on effort, patience and the ability to adapt.
Dr Md Anwar Hossain said the university carries the legacy of the scholar Atish Dipankar. He said the institution should prepare students to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Shamsul Alam Liton congratulated the graduates. He said the day is one of honour and responsibility. He noted the reality of high unemployment and said the university has placed emphasis on specialised skills alongside quality education. He said the Skills Development Institute is helping students gain practical competence, digital literacy and vocational experience. He said investment in youth is essential for national prosperity.
On behalf of the Chancellor, the UGC Chairman conferred graduate and master's degrees and presented special awards to 27 students. He also handed over certificates and medals.
Among the special awards, six students received the Chancellor's Award, five received the Board of Trustees Chairman's Award and 16 received the Vice-Chancellor's Award.
The ceremony concluded with a cultural programme and a laser show.
