GPH Ispat provides free eye care services at Kumira plant

GPH Ispat has provided free eye care services at its Kumira plant in Chattogram.

A day-long free eye care medical camp was held on December 17, 2025. The programme was inaugurated by Mohammad Almas Shimul, Additional Managing Director of GPH Ispat.

Mohammad Almas Shimul said, "GPH Ispat has many responsibilities and commitments toward the health, education, and overall social well-being of our neighboring communities and local residents around the plant area. As part of this commitment, a day-long free eye care medical camp has been organized today, 17 December 2025, at the GPH Ispat Kumira Plant."

"In recent years, we have been actively supporting comprehensive healthcare initiatives, particularly for women, including breast cancer awareness, maternal healthcare, circumcision services, and assistance in various medical treatments and surgeries," he added.

The eye care services were delivered by an eight-member medical team led by eye specialists Soumen Talukder and Shubho Chakraborty. A total of 512 male and female patients received medical consultations. Free spectacles and medicines were also distributed.

GPH Ispat said it continued social support during the Covid-19 pandemic by distributing free oxygen cylinders across Sitakunda, greater Chattogram and other parts of the country. The company also plans to organise a merit scholarship and reception programme on December 27 for outstanding HSC students of Sitakunda.
