ICAB holds 22nd convocation in Dhaka

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) held its 22nd convocation in Dhaka.

The event took place at InterContinental Dhaka, where newly qualified chartered accountants were recognised, says a press release.

Zahir Uddin Swapon, minister for information and broadcasting, attended the programme as chief guest.

Speaking at the event, he said chartered accountants play a key role in ensuring financial transparency and strengthening governance.

He said the profession is changing due to technological developments such as artificial intelligence and data analytics and urged new accountants to adapt.

He also stressed the importance of integrity in the profession.

Dr. Md Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan, chairman of the Financial Reporting Council, attended as special guest.

Dr. Salimullah Khan, professor at North South University, delivered the convocation speech.

He said chartered accountants contribute to economic and social systems beyond technical roles.

ICAB president NKA Mobin said the new members completed their examinations between November–December 2022 and November–December 2025.

He urged them to maintain professional standards, pursue learning and contribute to national development.

The convocation marked the completion of professional training for the new chartered accountants.
