NDUB celebrates Victory Day and Christmas in spirit of unity

Notre Dame University Bangladesh marked Victory Day and Christmas with a joint programme in Dhaka on Sunday, December 21, 2025.

The programme began with the national anthem, followed by the hoisting of the national flag and the NDUB flag. A universal prayer was led by Fr. Paschal Sarker, CSC, Deputy Director of the Language Center.

The gathering observed a one-minute silence in memory of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, Co-founder and Spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho, who was martyred recently.

In his welcome address, Vice Chancellor Fr. Patrick Daniel Gaffney, CSC, spoke about the significance of Victory Day and Christmas and their shared values of freedom, service and compassion.

Three documentaries on NDUB's activities, Victory Day and Christmas, prepared by the university's Public Relations Office, were screened.

Dean Aloke Kumar Chakraborty spoke on the importance of Victory Day. A duet song by teachers and students followed.

Bishop Subroto Boniface Gomes addressed the programme as Chief Guest. He spoke about the message of Christmas based on love, compassion and harmony. A cake-cutting ceremony marked the occasion. Fr. Ashim Theotonius Gonsalves, CSC, Deputy Registrar, also spoke.

Students staged a drama under the direction of Renet J. Paul Gomes. Christmas gifts were presented to the chief guests. Registrar Dr. Bro. Subal Lawrence Rozario, CSC, delivered the vote of thanks.

The programme ended with a Christmas carol by Newton Mondol and his team, followed by a shared lunch.
