Sculpture ‘Industrial Tree’ unveiled at Comilla Economic Zone
A sculpture titled “The Industrial Tree” has been unveiled at the entrance of the Comilla Economic Zone of Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), marking a collaboration between late sculptor Hamiduzzaman Khan and artist Ivy Zaman.
The sculpture was commissioned during the final phase of Khan’s career and designed as a representation of industry through the form of a tree, says a press release.
Work on the project began in 2024, but remained incomplete following Khan’s death in July 2025.
MGI later invited Ivy Zaman, who had been involved in the project, to complete the work.
She agreed to finish the sculpture while preserving the original concept.
Speaking at the unveiling, Ivy Zaman said the work represents a joint creation and one of the final pieces by Khan.
MGI Director Tanveer Ahmed Mostafa said the sculpture reflects a blend of industrial identity and artistic expression.
He said the installation was intended to represent long-term commitment and growth.
The sculpture features a grounded base, a vertical structure and an open canopy, symbolising stability and development.
MGI said the installation is part of its effort to integrate art within an industrial setting.
The Comilla Economic Zone hosts local and international manufacturers within a planned industrial area.
MGI said the sculpture highlights the connection between industry, culture and community.
