Syngenta Bangladesh marks International Women’s Day with female farmers in Rajshahi
Syngenta Bangladesh Limited celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 with women farmers under its SheShines initiative at the Sardah Union Parishad in Charghat, Rajshahi.
The programme included local women farmers, community leaders and government officials. It recognised the role of rural women in agriculture and highlighted their social and economic empowerment, says a press release.
Jannatul Ferdous, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Charghat, attended the programme as chief guest.
The upazila agricultural extension officer of Charghat, the director of human resources and legal counsel of Syngenta Bangladesh Limited, chairmen of Sardah and Nimpara Union Parishad, and representatives from Charghat Upazila Health Complex attended as special guests.
Addressing the event, Jannatul Ferdous said, “Women farmers play a crucial role in strengthening Bangladesh’s agricultural sector. Initiatives like SheShines are helping rural women gain skills, confidence, and recognition. Such efforts are essential to ensure inclusive agricultural development and empower women at the grassroots level.”
An awareness session on health and nutrition was conducted by Dr. Tasnim Monira, assistant surgeon at Charghat Upazila Health Complex.
A free health camp was also arranged for participating women farmers. It offered general health check-ups.
The SheShines initiative reflects Syngenta Bangladesh’s work on inclusive growth, women’s empowerment, financial and market access and sustainable agricultural development in rural communities.
