Syngenta opens second Farmer School in Rajshahi
Syngenta Bangladesh has inaugurated its second Farmer School at Nimpara Union in Charghat, Rajshahi, on December 11, 2025.
The initiative was launched with the support of the local government, focusing on improving farming practices among marginal farmers and promoting sustainable agriculture.
The inauguration event was attended by Md Rahatul Karim Mizan, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Charghat, as chief guest. Md Mizanur Rahman, Chairman of Nimpara Union Parishad, was present as chair. Hedayet Ullah, Managing Director of Syngenta Bangladesh Limited, joined as special guest. Mohammed Shahidul Islam, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Syngenta Bangladesh, delivered the opening remarks and outlined the importance of the Farmer School initiative.
The Syngenta Farmer School functions as a learning and awareness centre. It provides farmers with modern agricultural knowledge and practical skills and supports a broader farming ecosystem in rural communities.
Syngenta's first Farmer School in Sardah Union, Charghat, was launched in 2023 with local government support. It has reached more than 1,500 farmers across 14 villages and contributed to higher crop yields and improved household income. The new Farmer School in Nimpara Union builds on that experience and strengthens local knowledge-sharing among farmers.
Syngenta is a science-based agtech company that supports farmers worldwide in producing safe and nutritious food while protecting the environment. In Bangladesh, it operates as a public limited joint venture of Syngenta AG Switzerland and the Bangladesh government through Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation.
