ASA University Bangladesh welcomes students at Orientation-2026

ASA University Bangladesh is making significant progress in the fields of education and research, said Abdul Khalek, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, while addressing the Orientation-2026 programme as the chief guest.

The programme was organised to welcome newly admitted students, familiarise them with the university’s academic environment, and provide them with inspiration and guidance as they embark on their higher education journey. The event was held on August 29.

Prof. Dr Mohammad Faruque, Member of the Board of Trustees of ASA University Bangladesh, attended the programme as the special guest. The programme was chaired by Prof. Dr S M Rezaul Karim, Vice-Chancellor of ASA University Bangladesh.

The programme began with a welcome address by Md Zafar Siddique, Registrar of ASA University Bangladesh. In his address, he welcomed the newly admitted students and encouraged them to maintain discipline, punctuality, and academic commitment throughout their university life. He also emphasised that the university is committed to nurturing students with academic excellence, ethical values, leadership qualities, and a sense of social responsibility.

Chairmen of different departments, Deans and the Proctor of the university delivered motivational and orientation speeches. They encouraged the students to engage actively in academic activities, research, innovation and co-curricular activities and urged them to make the best use of their university years.

Prof. Dr AKM Helal uz Zaman, Treasurer of ASA University Bangladesh, stressed the importance of dedication, integrity, and discipline in academic life. He said that true success is not measured merely by academic results but by the combination of knowledge, skills, values and human qualities. He also expressed his appreciation for the university’s development and sought government support, including access to various funding opportunities, to further strengthen the university’s academic and research activities.

Addressing the programme, Education Secretary Abdul Khalek congratulated the newly admitted students and highlighted the government’s initiatives to modernise the education system, expand access to higher education, promote technology-based learning and develop skilled human resources.

Referring to the ongoing reforms in the education sector, he said that the government had undertaken plans to reform the national curriculum and had implemented various initiatives accordingly. He further said that, with the assistance of curriculum experts from different universities, the government is preparing to print approximately 320 million textbooks.

Emphasising the importance of adapting to the changing global landscape, the Education Secretary urged students to acquire contemporary knowledge, technological skills, creativity and strong ethical values. He praised the progress of ASA University Bangladesh, particularly in education and research, and expressed hope that the university would continue to expand its academic, research, technological and skills-development initiatives and make a greater contribution to the country’s higher education sector.

The Education Secretary also said that the government is going to inaugurate a secondary school football tournament involving approximately four million secondary-level students, which, he said, will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

He assured the university authorities that the government would extend necessary cooperation in securing foreign funding and other forms of government assistance. “Whenever you require support from the government or assistance in accessing foreign funding, we will stand beside you,” he said.
