NSU VC delivers keynote at Future Investment Conference 2026 in China
Prof. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of North South University (NSU), delivered the keynote address at the Future Investment Conference 2026 (FIC2026), currently being held in Xiamen, China. He spoke at a session titled “The Ocean Economy and Future Investment: Financing an Inclusive Blue Frontier”, bringing his perspectives on inclusive finance, sustainable development, and the role of investment in unlocking the potential of the global ocean economy.
FIC2026 is a high-level international platform bringing together policymakers, institutional investors, technology innovators and industry leaders to explore how international investment can be better leveraged to promote sustainable growth. Organised by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in partnership with China’s Ministry of Commerce and the Xiamen Municipal Government, the conference is a flagship event of the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), one of the country’s major international investment and trade platforms.
Prof. Chowdhury proposed a “Blue Inclusive Finance Initiative”, comprising four pillars: a blue microfinance facility, a blended blue carbon and impact fund, a technology partnership, and a joint academic programme linking universities, development finance institutions, and technology partners.
His participation at FIC2026 reflects NSU’s growing engagement with global discussions on sustainable development, inclusive finance, climate resilience, innovation, and socially impactful solutions.
