Fish Fair 2018

As part of the National Fisheries week which began on July 22, a five day fish fair is being held at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh in Khamarbari. Displaying the best in aquatic life the country has to offer, the fair also gives visitors an opportunity to learn about the ills of overfishing and how to save local species of fish from extinction. With dioramas of fishing villages and 24 stalls displaying live fish, fish fries and selling fish feed, the fair isn't only for aquarists but for people from all walks of life. This year, the fair focused on conservation of fries, stopping use of gillnets and encouraging people to reap the benefits of proper fish farming, among other things. The fisheries department under the fisheries and livestock ministry organised the fair. It will end on 28th July.
