Tech-Streets of Dhaka

In  a snapshot of Digital Bangladesh, footpaths in the city can be found lined with peddlers hawking everything from Chinese mobile phones, speakers, data cables to even selfie-sticks. Considering the clientele served, the goods sold here have prices ranging between Tk 50 and Tk 600.  With some 140 million mobile phone users around the country, according to Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission's 2018 figures, the mobile phone market has been growing at a fast rate. The sale of mobile phone accessories has in turn increased. However, the street-hawkers occupying the footpaths have not restricted their wares to electronics only; one can also find slippers, cotton-buds, spectacles and much more. The photos were taken from Nilkhet area in the capital.
