The Winter Kings

As the chill in the air spreads, so does the fragrance from freshly harvested winter vegetables. Farmers load up vans, trucks and boats with the fresh greens -- gourds, amaranths, cauliflowers, radishes, long beans and much more -- and bring those to markets across the country. Bangladesh is famous for its winter vegetables and this series of pictures shows what the fuss is all about. While many of the edibles have high demand during the season, this time around farmers are counting losses. The Cyclone Bulbul, which hit the country last month, damaged large amount of crops. Many of the harvest was spoiled. But that has not done much to dent the enthusiasm people show for the greens. The pictures were taken from Munshiganj.
