Polls in The Air

Attacks on BNP candidates in different areas have dampened the election festivities but the deployment of the army has revived the public's hopes to vote peacefully in the national election on Sunday. Albeit late, the spirit of the polls has finally gripped several parts of the country. Who's going to win the election and why -- these questions are dominating discussions everywhere. On the other hand, MP candidates and their supporters are bringing out processions, holding rallies and carrying out door-to-door campaigns to seek votes. Many are electioneering by carrying replicas of the “boat”, the ruling Awami League's electoral symbol, and the “sheaf of paddy”, the BNP's symbol. The polls festivities are wafting through the air.
