1 killed over altercation in Sylhet

A man was killed and two of his friends were injured following an altercation at Raynagar in Sylhet city yesterday.

The deceased was Biplob Roy Bikol, 29, of Majortila. The injured are Ananta Lal Das, 28, and Pritom Dey, 26 of Raynagar.

Ananta's father, a local Sramik League leader, said Biplob and his friends got involved in an altercation with local Juba League leader Jamshed Siraj around 12:00am.

Suddenly Jamshed and his men started stabbing Biplob and others with knife and fled. Locals rushed them to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Biplob dead, he added.

However, Jamshed's brother denied Jamshed's involvement in the killing. Police could not confirm the reason of the altercation.
