10 'drug traders' held

70,000 Yaba, 2 sedans seized

Detectives claimed to have arrested 10 drug peddlers and recovered 70,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from their possession in a drive on Monday in the capital's Darus Salam area.

Two sedans used for carrying drugs were also seized.

The arrestees are Nobi Hossain alias Bhutto, Md Ariful Hasan, Mijhu Hossain alias Hossain, Md Sharif Shikdar alias Abbas, Md Yasin, Md Moniruzzaman alias Monir, Md Hamidul, Md Raihan Farazi, Md Tokbir Murad alias Mamun and Md Obaidullah.

In the primary investigation, they admitted that Bhutto, Yasin and Ariful received consignment of Yaba tablets from three Myanmarese drug traders and brought them to Teknaf in Cox's Bazar, said Additional Police Commissioner Monirul Islam at a press conference at Dhaka Metropolitan Police Media Centre yesterday.
