Accused in 15 cases arrested with firearm in port city

Police arrested a man who stands accused in 15 cases filed over extortion and robbery among other charges from port city’s Khulshi area early yesterday. 

The arrestee is Wakil Hossain (28). Police claimed he used to introduce himself as a local leader of Sechhasebak Dal.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pranab Chowdhury of Khulshi Police Station said he was arrested in possession of a locally made firearm and two cartridges.

“Wakil stands accused in at least 15 cases over different charges, including robbery extortion, and drug smuggling,” said the OC.

A case was lodged in this connection.
