Anniversary of four martyrs' death today

Today is the 44th death anniversary of four martyrs of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Dr Shamsuddin Ahmed, Dr Shyamol Kanti, nurse Mahmudur Rahman and ambulance driver Korban Ali.

On this day in 1971, Pakistani occupation army picked up the four along with some patients from the hospital and killed them near Shaheed Shamsuddin Sadar Hospital, said a Director of National Healthcare Network of Bangladesh Diabetic Samity's press release.

Four days later, the then principal of the college Lt Col Dr AF Ziaur Rahman was picked up from his residence and none could find him again.

Former and current students of the college demand (posthumous) Independence Award for them.
