BYLC to hold leadership skill bootcamp
One hundred undergraduate students from different colleges and universities across the country will participate in a four-day residential leadership programme of Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC) from December 11 to 14 at Bangladesh Tea Resort in Sylhet's Sreemangal.
BYLC team selected the 100, 60 male and 40 female students,from among 1,000 aspirants for the Youth Leadership Bootcamp which aims to generate innovative thinking and develop leadership skills.
Ejaj Ahmad, founder and president of BYLC, yesterday made the announcement about the programme at a press conference in the capital's Jatiya Press Club.
At the boot camp, the participants will get to know about many career options which can help them choose the right one for themselves instead of their parents, he added.
Munir Hasan, youth coordinator of the Bangla daily Prothom Alo, mentioned that about 2.2 million youths become eligible to enter the country's job market every year but only half of them can manage jobs at home and abroad.
The unemployed youths become frustrated whereas they need to be aware of their career goals and learn leadership skills to be engaged in something they want to do, he added.
Calvin Hayes, cultural affairs officer at the US embassy in Dhaka, also spoke.
The US embassy, Chevron, Paragon Group, Prothom Alo, Summit Group, Brac and Sylhet district commissioner's office are supporting the programme.
