DNCC to monitor mosquito control activities from March 7

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will monitor mosquito control activities engaging 11 teams, in a bid to curb the mosquito menace, from March 7.  

The teams will monitor mosquito control activities at every ward and will submit a report to the concerned authority in this regard, Panel Mayor of the DNCC Md Zamal Mostafa took the decision at a meeting held at Uttara Community Centre in Dhaka.

All ward councillors, secretaries and high officials of the health division attended the meeting while Atiqul Islam, newly elected mayor of the city corporation, was present as chief guest.

While addressing the meeting, Atiqul Islam said, "We will have to take all necessary steps in order to control the mosquito menace in the city as we want to see the city free from mosquitos by the next month."     

Blaming a section of mosquito control workers for their reluctance to work sincerely, he said "We will have to ensure accountability of the mosquito repellent workers, ward councillors, secretaries and regional executive officials to control the mosquito menace."

He once again warned that owners of homes and establishments will be jailed or fined by operating mobile courts if larvae are found at their houses and establishments.
