Drug trader jailed for selling spurious medicines

A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday in the capital sentenced a drug trader to two years' imprisonment, and fined him Tk 10 lakh for selling and preserving spurious medicines of different prominent brands.

Shamol Chandra Bhawal was owner of Bhawal Trading Pharmacy at Babubazar in old Dhaka, said Executive Magistrate Md Feroz Ahmed.

Shamol admitted that he had been selling these spurious medicines for the last one to two years, the magistrate added.

Major HM Sazzad Hossain of Rab-1 led the drive.
