Enamul owns 15 houses, purchased 3 in last 6 months

Awami League leader Enamul Huq Enu owns at least 15 houses located in the old part of Dhaka city, according to law enforcers.

Locals said Enamul, vice president of Gandaria upazila Awami League and also a shareholder of Dhaka Wanderers Club in Motijheel, purchased three of the houses including two tin-sheds within the last six months.

The information of Enamul’s wealth came into the light after Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) recovered Tk 5 crore in cash, 720 tolas of gold and five firearms raiding the houses of Enamul, one of his friends and an employee in Old Dhaka.

The elite force conducted the drive today based on intelligence that Enamul has recently purchased a total of five vaults from a shop on English Road in the area a few days ago to keep his illegal money, according to Rab sources.

After the drive, Shafiullah Bulbul, commanding officer of Rab-3, told journalists that Enamul owns at least 15 houses.

Meanwhile, locals told our staff correspondent that the AL leader currently owns at least 10 building and semi-building houses in different parts of Old Dhaka including Banianagar, Narinda and Sutrapur and Murgitola area.

Enamul was running a small shop in the area, but suddenly became owner of a huge amount of moveable and immovable wealth including houses and business establishments in the area, locals said.

Talking to our correspondent, Sathi, wife of Enamul, said they don’t live in the Murgitola house but visit it frequently.

When asked how many houses they have, Sathi denied saying anything in this regard.
