ETV employee run over by train in Tejgaon

An employee of Ekushey Television was run over by a train, while talking on mobile phone, in Dhaka's Tejgaon area this morning.

Deceased Abdur Rahman Babul (43) was an office assistant of the private TV channel.

Abdul Alim, a sub-inspector of Dhaka Railway Police Station, said the accident took place around 8:00am when Babul was crossing the rail tracks, without noticing an approaching goods-laden train.

He died on the spot.

Witnesses said Babul was talking on the phone when he was walking along the rail tracks with a bag. Several people screamed at him to walk to safety but he did not hear them.

Hailing from Cumilla, Babul used to live in Dhaka's Nakhalpara area.
