IT exams open door for Bangladeshis abroad

Newly introduced international standardized IT Engineers Examination (ITEE) opened door to international job market for Bangladeshi IT professionals as Framgia, a Vietnam based Japanese IT Company, recently recruited ITEE certified IT graduates from Bangladesh.

"While the world has shortage of IT engineers, Bangladesh IT experts fulfill the basic programming skill conditions as well as being able to speak native-level English, which is important factor for producing global values," said Taihei Kobayashi, the CEO of the company.

M Dastagir Husain and M Asiful Haque, who passed the ITEE examination last year, have been recruited by Framgia along with 21 some other Bangladeshi IT professionals recently.

Lauding the skills of Bangladeshi IT graduates, Kobayashi said they have opened one of their branches in Bangladesh this month and aim to expand it to 500 employees till the end of 2018.

The ITEE, presently mutually recognised by 12 Asian countries, is basically similar to a national standardized examination of Japan for IT professionals where more than half a million IT students and IT professionals attend every year.

Bangladesh IT-engineers Examination Center (BD-ITEC) under Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology  Ministry introduced the examination in the country last year under a project titled Capacity Building on ITEE Management with the help of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The objective of introducing ITEE in the country is to give international branding to Bangladeshi IT professionals to get international jobs around the world.

Bangladesh achieved IT Professionals Examination Council (ITPEC) membership in September last year that gives the country authority to hold ITEE here officially simultaneously with other ITPEC member countries (Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) twice in a year.

So far, 83 Bangladeshi IT professionals passed in last four ITEE examinations held in between 2013 and 2015.

The next ITEE exam will be held on October 25 in the country.
