Lightning kills couple

A man and his wife were killed after being stuck by lightning while their child escaped unhurt in Vandara Guchcha village in Thakurgaon yesterday.
The union parishad Chairman Mahbub Alam told The Daily Star that lightning struck Md Hanif, 55, and Chanbanu, 45, around 5:00am while they were sitting in their courtyard during heavy thunder shower.
Luckily their eight-year old son was unhurt though he was also sitting with his parents, he added.
