Luxury car, bought ‘dodging tax’, seized

Officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) seized a luxury car worth Tk 1 crore from port city’s Cheragi Pahar yesterday. It was allegedly brought into the country by dodging tax payments worth Tk 50 lakh. 

Acting on a tip-off, a customs intelligence team raided a businessperson’s house in the area and seized a Great Wall Haval H3 car from its garage, said Abu Hanif Md Abdul Ahad, assistant commissioner of CIID.

The 2351cc car was imported from China in 2012 by falsely declaring it as another car, he added.
