Registration for news portals must by Dec 15

The Press Information Department (PID) has started online newspaper registration process to check yellow journalism and ensure government benefits for the publishers, said an official handout.

Online news portals, which are already in function, will also have to apply for re-registration, the handout added.

Publishers of all online newspapers have to fill in specific forms, and sign affidavits and submit those to the department by December 15. The materials are available at the department's protocol branch and also on its website: www.pressinform.portal.gov.bd.

The information department would register online newspapers after examining all information.
