Road crashes kill 2 in Dhaka
Two people including a female staff of a private company were killed in separate road accidents in Banani and Turag areas of Dhaka today.
Farhanaz, an accountant of a private company in Banani, was killed as a bus ran her over in Dhaka’s Banani area this morning.
She used to live with her husband Nazmul Hasan in Mirpur of Dhaka, M Afzal Hossain, sub-inspector of Banani Police Station, told The Daily Star. The couple has a 13-month old daughter named Taharin Hasan Isra, he said.
Farhanaz suffered injuries after the speeding bus hit her while crossing the airport road at Amtali near Mohakhali Flyover around 8:50am, he said.
She was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka where doctors declared her dead, said the police official.
Besides, a middle-aged man was killed as a bus hit him in Dhaka’s Turag area around 11:00am.
The deceased was identified as Parvez Rob, 55, and he was a singer by profession, Nurul Muttakin, officer-in-charge of Turag Police Station, told The Daily Star quoting family members.
The accident took place when Parvez was trying to board another bus in from East West Medical College Hospital, leaving him injured.
He was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said the OC.
Meanwhile, police seized the bus named “Victor Classic”, but its driver managed to flee the scene, the OC added.
