Road crashes kill 6

Six people, including an eight-year-old kid, were killed and three others injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday.

In Tangail, three people, including the kid, were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a three-wheeler carrying them on Tangail-Mymensingh Road in Gangair Bazar area of Madhupur upazila.

The deceased were Jamal Hossain, 55, of Moshajan village, his grand daughter Sania Akter, 8, and their relative Rohiz Uddin, 60.

The accident occurred when they were returning home from a relative's house. Sania died on the spot while two among four injured died on the way to Tangail Medical College Hospital, police said.

In Satkhira, two people were killed and another was injured when an oil-laden tanker hit their motorcycle on Satkhira-Khulna highway in Patkelghata union of Tala upazila yesterday.

The deceased were Yakub Sheik, 45, of Kumira village and Rahim Biswas, 45, of Monohorpur village.

In Chittagong, pickup-van driver Md Jafar, 30, of Comilla was killed as his vehicle collided head-on with an unidentified vehicle on Chittagong-Dhaka highway at Baratakia of Mirsarai upazila yesterday.
