SC defers Bangladesh Bar Council election to August 26

The Supreme Court yesterday deferred the Bangladesh Bar Council election to August 26 following a petition filed the authorities seeking more time to update the voter list.

It also asked the authorities to publish the voter list by July 30.

Earlier on May 28, the SC fixed August 13 for holding the election and asked to publish voter list by July 12.

But the authorities said they would not be able to do so by that time since they could not collect the names of all voters.
