Seven contestants received Yes cards at the Chittagong round of Rupchanda-The Daily Star Super Chef 2016 yesterday.

About a hundred participants sat for the written exam held at a community centre in the city. A total of 20 people were selected for the next stage -- the cooking round. The selected contestants were given Tk 500 each to buy ingredients and 30 minutes to prepare their dishes.

The seven to qualify from this round are: Iffat Nowshin, Naznin Mahal, Tanzila Kaniz, Hasina Akter, Sabrina Akter, Nasrin Akter Sumi and Munia Akhter. Umme Kulsum Chowdhury Mouri and Jebunnisa Khan, winner and runner-up respectively of last year's competition, judged the round. Talking to The Daily Star, Kulsum said they judged the contestants' dishes based on three criteria -- taste, preparation and innovation.
