Thakurgaon MP hurt as car hits tree

A Thakurgaon lawmaker and her driver were injured when her car hit a roadside tree in Gokul area on Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Bogra Sadar upazila yesterday.

Selina Jahan Lita, 50, lawmaker of Thakurgaon and driver Bikash Kumar, 36, are undergoing treatment at TMSS Medical Collage Hospital.

Witnesses said the MP's car hit a tree while the driver was trying to save an elderly pedestrian who came on the road suddenly. Later, locals rushed them to the hospital.

Emergency Medical Officer of the hospital Dr Abdul Wasel said the MP, who was rushed to the hospital with several injuries in her body, is out of danger now. The driver got one of his hand fractured.

She was going to attend a programme in Thakurgaon town marking birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
