Two crew still missing as vessel capsizes in Ctg
Two crew of lighter vessel Khan Sons-1, which capsized at the outer anchorage in Chittagong port two days back, were yet to be rescued.
The two crews are the vessel's captain Saiful Islam Badsha of Barishal and its engine assistant Saiful Islam of Noakhali, said Deputy Conservator of Chittagong Port Captain Nazmul Alam. The lighter vessel Khan Sons-1 capsized after being holed by the anchor of mother vessel Sainty Valiant at the outer anchorage in the port on Monday night when the former was unloading gypsum from the latter.
Of the missing 11 crews, 9 were rescued, said Nabi Alam, general secretary of Lighter Ship Sharmik Union, adding "We have not detected the other two crews yet."
The ships Kandari-1 and Knadari-11 of Chittagong Port Authority, and coast guard vessels were continuing their rescue operations at the bay, Nazmul added.
