UGC secretary made OSD

University Grants Commission (UGC) Secretary Dr Md Khaled has been made officer on special duty (OSD) allegedly for “moral lapses”.

The decision was made at a meeting of the full commission of the UGC yesterday as the allegation of influencing on a recruitment test against Dr Khaled was preliminary found true, an official of the UGC, seeking anonymity, told The Daily Star.

The UGC issued an order in this regard today.

According to the commission order, Dr Khaled was a member of a recruitment examination committee for the post of the Assistant Director of UGC despite his daughter was a candidate for the post.

Dr Khaled has degraded his moral value as he discharged as a recruitment committee member concealing the information about his daughter to the commission, the order said.

It is not acceptable as he was responsible position in the commission.

Meanwhile, a two-member inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the matter.
