UN lauds role of Bangladesh Police in int'l peacekeeping missions
The United Nations yesterday lauded the role of Bangladesh Police in establishing peace across the world, said a press release from police headquarters.
The skill, professionalism and bravery of Bangladesh Police in establishing peace in war-torn countries are maintaining high standard, said Peter Thomas Drennan, under-secretary-general for Safety and Security of UN.
He said this during a meeting with visiting Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque to Ivory Coast.
The UN official said the number of Formed Police Unit was reduced to three from seven in Ivory Coast under present circumstance but the activities of Bangladesh Police are kept continuing due to their highest morality, discipline and skills.
Alongside visiting peace keeping missions in Ivory Coast, the IGP Shahidul also tripped to missions in Mali.
