Could Idris Elba really be the next James Bond?

The latest leak from the Sony Entertainment hack has revealed Idris Elba, star of The Wire, Luther, and Mandela, is one executive's favorite to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond sometime in the future. Elba had already expressed his desire to play the suave, shaken-not-stirred character in a recent Reddit AMA session. When asked, "If it were offered to you, would you be the next James Bond?" Elba replied, "Yes, if it was offered to me, absolutely." According to The Daily Beast, it appears Sony executive Amy Pascal is as equally enthusiastic about the idea. In yet another leaked Sony email, Pascal sent a memo to Elizabeth Cantillon, former executive vice president of production for Columbia Pictures, the company which distributes the Bond films, on January 4, 2014, which simply stated, “Idris should be the next bond.” After Daniel Craig, do you think Idris Elba has what it takes to step into the shoes of the sleekest womanizing secret agent of the world?
