10-year-old raped in Savar

A 10-year-old girl was raped in Savar area of the capital last night.

The rapist was identified by the girl as Ratan, an acquaintance of the family, the victim's mother told reporters quoting the victim.

Ratan offered the victim a ride to a local fair in Arapara. Instead he took her to Bus Stand area and raped her, the mother added.

The girl was first taken to Savar Upazila Health Complex this morning after she returned home and later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

We have heard about the incident and are investigating it, SM Kamrujjaman, officer-in-charge of Savar Police Station, told The Daily Star.
